Greetings,
I'm somewhat confused by the copyright status of a couple of works I'd like
to put up on the web and I'm hoping folks can help me here. The works are
Plutarch's *Roman Questions* and *Greek Questions* and are part of the Loeb
Classical Library's series of volumes embracing all of Plutarch's *Moralia*
(but I'm only interested in the two essays mentioned (for now; I might do
the others in the volume later). Now here's where I get confused: the
author/translator, F.C. Babbitt, appears to have died while the volume was
originally in press (Sept. 21, 1935 ... the book appeared in 1936), so in
theory I'm on firm ground. I was unable to find the volume listed at:
http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books/cce/
but I might have messed that search up. I'm also confused because this is
obviously one volume out of a series -- is there such a thing as a
copyright on the series post facto (and how would I find out) or is it the
copyright of individual volumes which matters?
regards,
dm
