Most people are not that familiar with PNG, even now.  Most image editors
too.  I picked the more popular format.  In this case, problems of open
source versus closed, 8bit colour versus 24bit colour really aren't relevant.
There is a minor performance gain.
Throwing away creation time and background colour and using maximum
compression reduced file size to 1390.
Again, whichever he prefers, I suppose.
