new copyright bill

How depressing is right! Will it make ALL of my electronic devices 
obsolete? I have 3 computers, a Rocket Book, and two Palm devices, all of 
which have documents and books on them...

Will it be impossible to buy a junked used computer?

I wrote to my congresspersons right away to protest it.

[Moderator: An early draft of the proposed bill is on-line at
 http://cryptome.org/sssca.htm .  In that draft, there's an exception
 for devices made before regulations go into effect  (section 101(b)).

 But note also that, by definitions in section 109, the "devices"
 covered by the bill include not only hardware, but also software.
 So this bill might actually be even farther-reaching than the earlier
 article implies.  - JMO]
