I probably didn't make myself exactly clear and apologize for that, but
Leslie figured out what I meant to say and answered with what I wanted
to hear--there IS such a creature as a pocket PC with text-to-speech.
Having this will give my husband something very portable to read books
and Email with, etc., lighter than carrying his lap-top around his neck,
along with toddling around on two canes...
Dyslexia is probably one of the least understood, most vexing, and
most-denied conditions I've encourntered. When he wrote his first
letter to his mom at age 42, she wept. We can all read his notes and
letters which are written in true "fonix"- as long as we read the notes
and letters out loud. But he was ashamed to write "his way". This
speech to text and text to speech is very empowering to some very
intelligent people. (Now he doesn't care if he writes us in true
"fonix" because he knows he can punctuate and spell, etc. on the
computer if he has to!
