A possibly dumb question, but . . .

Dear Fellow Book People,

    I am facing a problem I am sure many of you have also faced: too many
books for the space available in my home.  I am thinking of storing the
overflow in an outside storage building, but I live in a hot, humid climate.
Air-conditioning the storage building would be prohibitively expensive at
this time, so here is my question:

    Would wrapping each book in Saran Wrap (or some other such plastic wrap)
prevent the growth of mold or mildew?  If not, is there any other way to
prevent mold or mildew aside from air conditioning and/or dehumidification?
Any advice would be appreciated.
