Joe Esposito has bemoaned the 11th edition of the EB, saying it has value only
for historians.
I beg to differ - I am a library researcher for the OED and I frequently refer
to this edition of the EB for examples of word usage. The accuracy of the
information it contains is not an issue for my purposes as I am only interested
whether or not a word or phrase is present or absent.
So, for some of us, the PG has done a service.
