Re: In Canada, "Hollywood's MP" sent packing

Now I only know about this what I have read on Slashdot andf BoingBoing and
Copyright. So I think that it is a good thing that the Hollywood MP lost the
election. I only wish that Senator Hatch from my state would loose his next
one.

I hope that you don't take this personally but I get really tired of the
international whining about U.S. cultural imperialism. It seems to me that
half of the TV shows I watch are either Canadian or British in origin. As
for the French, it has been 20 years since I have seen a French movie. You
have a lot of clever, creative people in Canada. You should do more
marketing. We use to have clever, creative people in the U.S. as well.
Unfortunately the "bean counters" have been running them into the ground.
But these things ebb and flow all the time. Any one who has a 50 year
copyright shouldn't be complaining. You have a whole 33 years more of
public domain than we have. All those books, movies, and music....To
recycle and modernize and update.....

We live in a world that has 500 video channels and nothing fit to watch and
are burning through content like there is no tomarrow.. There are 780+
relatively decent movies over at the Internet Archives. I have purchased
myself over 1600+ public domain movies over the past two years. One of
the little projects I have been working on is a "rolling your own TV
Network" over WiFi and the internet. So far it is only on in my house
and a few blocks around my house on WiFi. Sometimes I wonder when I have
time to sleep. There is so much to do and so little time in which to do it.

It appears that the U.S. movie companies are going to be cutting back on
their output. That's a mistake. The niche is opening up for anyone to
take. You should encourage people to do so.

It's raining soup right now for everyone to catch as they can.
