Re: iRex iLiad ebook reader

At least this one seems to look a little more like ePaper
has been touted to look, but who can tell from photographs.
If Sony's really looks as good, they should immediately fire
their whole PR gang for this and start all over again.

Of course, the REAL issue is STILL that the average price of
such gizmos is as much as the average computers sold today!

If you are going to charge that much, it may as well BE the
average computer sold today, just with a new screen and new
physical format.

We end up with the same question we always end up asking:

Where Is That Money Going?

Yes, there are all the startup excuses, but then again,
Philips and Sony are hardly startups, and they don't go
through this whole pricing game every time they come up
with a new product in an established product line.

There has been something wrong with the business plans
for eBook readers from the very start, and why Philips
and Sony would want to fall into that failure pattern,
is beyond me.

Do they somehow feel OBLIGATED to make these new
products available ONLY to the very rich,
at least to start with.

I still see Treo's mostly in the hands of the elite...
not much trickling down in those areas, not enough for
anyone to expect a million seller.

Thoughts?
