Has this been released to the news media, or is still in draft form?
There are some odd sentence constructions in some of the text.
I won't comment on most of the content of the release at this point,
but I did see one bit that might be a red flag:
> Project Gutenberg and The World eBook Library are an
> example of the 501 (c) (3) corporations that operate
> on a non-profit basis to improve the world.
Are both of these actually 501(c)(3)s? I know that the
Project Gutenberg Literary Archive Foundation is,
but I can't find any record for the World eBook Library
in the IRS's charity database. (http://apps.irs.gov/app/pub78)
Maybe it's been added since the end of March (the last update
for the online database), but a quick web search doesn't
turn up a mention of that status on the WEBL's own site either.
(The reason this may matter is that Americans can make tax-deductible
donations to 501(c)(3) groups, but not to most other organizations,
including many other types of nonprofits. A 501(c)(6), for example,
is a nonprofit business association, but it's not a tax-deductible
charity. And if an organization that isn't actually a tax-deductible
charity sponsors a release, even mistakenly, that implies that it is,
this could lead to trouble down the line...)
