I don't use PDF as an archival format (thought about it, but decided
the format was too complicated), but I've actually had little trouble
pulling content out of a PDF and re-purposing it-- links, images,
text, page images, etc. Sort of depends on what your "re-purpose" is.
Not everything is about the Web.
