Gutenberg newsletters

For some reason, I haven't been getting complete copies of the Project
Gutenberg newsletter for the past few weeks. (More precisely, I'm
getting Part 1, the "founder's comments" section, but not Part 2,
the section that has the new book listings.) I'm not quite sure
why this is-- I did try to see that they had the new Book People
submission address at Penn instead of the old one at CMU, but perhaps
something went wrong.

In any case, newsletters *have* been going out, and I see from a quick
look at the Gutenberg web site that there *have* indeed been Part 2
postings during the last month. For now, if you'd like to see what's
been added recently, you can find recent Part 1 and Part 2 postings at

     http://www.gutenberg.org/newsletter/

They may be both being sent via the "gweekly" mailing list as well,
but I can't tell for sure from here. Folks who want to follow Gutenberg
closely may well want to sign up for that list in any case, since I
only summarize the new bits from Part 1 here, and then send along Part 2.
If at some point later on a full newsletter gets sent here, I plan to
continue forwarding and summarizing the same portions as I did previously.

Since it's been a while, though, here's a news item that's appeared
in recent Part 1 postings:

"We are interested in increasing the "SF" available at Project Gutenberg of
Australia. To this end we are happy to receive donations of ebooks to add
to our collection.

SF, in this context can mean: Science, Speculative, Superhero, Swords,
Sorcery, Spies, Supernatural and Scary Fiction.

Of course, we are only able to accept works that are public domain in
Australia.

Generally speaking, this means that the author died in 1954 or earlier.

Please see our WANTED list at http://gutenberg.net.au/wanted.html for
authors and works of interest. If you have suggestions for authors or works to
add to the list, please let us know. Do check first that they are not already
available at Project Gutenberg Australia or Project Gutenberg, please. Contact
details are provided on the WANTED page.

As always, ebooks by Australian authors and of general Australian interest
are always greatly appreciated."
