So why did you say:

[Moderator: I believe Bowerbird's statement above was specifically replying
to Nick Hodson's suggestion of using bookmarks for page numbers to address
the discrpeancy between "page n" and the nth page of the document.
If you track the book page number via bookmarks instead of in
the PDF paging, you can't use the page-number box to jump directly
to a particular page number of a book.
Since then, it's been noted here that some PDF files and viewers do support
using "logical" page numbers (e.g. "page 8" as opposed to "the 8th page")
directly. I'd be interested in knowing more about which versions
of PDF and which PDF readers and tools other than Adobe Acrobat/Reader 7
support this. - JMO]
