This is definitely a scanning error. They should be scanning cover-to-cover,
and all pages, even blank ones, should be included. I'd be very interested
in seeing examples of this--please send me any that you have found, or use

One of the things that bugs me about Google Books is that most books
that have full page illustrations that are not numbered pages are
missing from the images provided by Google (or in other cases, the
illustrations are there, and the text pages adjacent are missing). Is
this a scanning error by the Google scan operators, a policy decision
by Google to not scan these pages, or some sort of processing error
when Google puts it online? In what sort of shape are the scans
