Book People Archive

Freeload Press, textbookrevolution.org

I realize that this list is mostly about digitizing old,
public domain books, but I thought this might be of interest
to some people. Textbookrevolution.org is a site run by
Jason Turgeon, with the purpose of giving pointers to free
textbooks online. The site's mission overlaps somewhat with
that of my own site, theassayer.org, but Jason and I have
been keeping in touch via friendly e-mails now and then ---
I figure competition is a good thing.

Textbookrevolution.org was recently bought out by
Freeload Press (freeloadpress.com), which Jason has
always been a lot more interested in than I was.
Freeload publishes college textbooks that can be downloaded
for free, and include ads. The NY Times recently did a
pretty negative editorial on Freeload press:

(I'm not sure if you can access this without paying if you're
not an NY Times subscriber.)
