I learned recently that John Crowe Ransom's book, Chills and Fever, which
contains the poem, "Here Lies a Lady" (...of beauty and high degree, / Of
chills and fever she died, of fever and chills.) was published in 1924.
Many (all? some?) of the poems appeared in The Fugitive, which seems to have
published from 1922 - 1925.
Does anyone on this list know if any poems from Ransom's book are in the
public domain?
I wonder how one goes about researching something like this, from an
internet connection with no specific access to print documents. My interest
is theoretical, as I am not intending to publish these poems even if they
are p.d.
Thank you,
Roger Sperberg
PS: Michael Hart was kind enough to look into this on a preliminary basis,
indicating he believed 1924 was the year of publication for "Here Lies a
Lady".
