Several copyright renewal records are for works by Charles Fulton Oursler listed as published in 'Des Moines Register and Tribune Syndicate' (or simply 'Register and Tribune Syndicate'). WorldCat does not list any publication with that title, but the Syndicate, begun in 1922, distributed supplements to a variety of newspapers.
As early as 1940, the Syndicate published a weekly supplement sometimes known as the 'Spirit section', featuring 'The Spirit' and various other comics and features, that was included in various newspapers. We have not found any active copyright renewals to date mentioning The Spirit or the Spirit Section, nor have we found active copyright renewals filed for Des Moines Register issues.
