From the first issue onward, this magazine reprinted lyrics from popular songs with active copyrights. For instance, an early page in the first issue includes lyrics to 'Trains in the Night' and 'When the Lights Go On Again', both of which have 1942 copyrights that were renewed in 1969. Most of these renewals do not mention Hit Parader, but the copyrights remain active.
The first renewal we have found filed as a contribution to a periodical that specifically mentions Hit Parader is for 'I Love You, I Love You, I Love You' by Michael Brown, which appeared in the January 1952 issue of Hit Parader. We have not checked whether any earlier renewals filed under Music also mention Hit Parader.
