Some images from The Funnies were renewed separately in the Artwork section, rather than in the Contributions to Periodicals section. The first such image with an active copyright is by John Coleman Burroughs, and is titled 'John Carter of Mars'. It ran in issue #37 (November 1939), and was renewed in 1966.
