Kirkus Reviews

Kirkus Reviews is a book review publication intended primarily for booksellers and libraries. Unlike many reviews meant for general readers, the reviews in this professional publication do not shy away from revealing plot twists when relevant. Books are typically reviewed prior to their official publication date. (There is a Wikipedia article about this serial.)

Publication History

Kirkus Reviews traces its history back to a bulletin founded by Virginia Kirkus in 1933. Kirkus Reviews began publishing under that title in 1969. It has since undergone numerous changes of ownership (including a period from 1985 to 1991 when it was known as Jim Kobak's Kirkus Reviews, after the owner at that time). It is still published today.
