Northeastern Reporter

Northeastern Reporter (also titled North Eastern Reporter) is an edited compilation of US state court rulings and opinions from Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New York, and Ohio, published by West Publishing, now part of Thomson Reuters. It is published in multiple editions, initially in individual issues or online files, and later in "permanent edition" bound volumes.

Publication History

Northeastern Reporter began in 1885. A second series began in 1936, and a third in 1988. It is still published today. The first actively copyright-renewed issue is January 7, 1931 (v. 173 no. 8). We know of no actively copyright-renewed contributions. (More details) Judicial rulings and opinions are in the public domain in many states, but some states may claim copyright over them, and West also claims copyright over the notes it adds.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1885-1930: HathiTrust has volumes 1-28 and 30-172 of the first series. Access to some volumes may be restricted outside the United States. Some later volumes may be searchable but not readable online here.
• 1891-1892: HathiTrust also has volume 29 of the first series, covering December 25, 1891 through March 11, 1892.
• 1928-1929: Google Books has volume 163 of the first series, covering October 30, 1928 through January 1, 1929.
• 1929: Google Books has volume 164 of the first series, covering January 8 through March 5, 1929.
• 1929: Google Books has volume 165 of the first series, covering March 12 through May 14, 1929.
• 1929: Google Books has volume 166 of the first series, covering May 21 through July 23, 1929.
• 1929: Google Books has volume 167 of the first series, covering July 30 through October 22, 1929.
• 1929-1930: Google Books has volume 168 of the first series, covering October 29, 1929 through January 8, 1930.
• 1930: Google Books has volume 169 of the first series, covering January 15 through March 5, 1930.
• 1930: Google Books has volume 170 of the first series, covering March 12 through April 30, 1930.
• 1930: Google Books has volume 171 of the first series, covering May 7 through July 23, 1930.
• 1930: Google Books has volume 172 of the first series, covering July 30 through November 12, 1930.
