Scope and content:  Original Caption: Professor Vernon Kellogg, Stanford University, California, author of books on biology and many scientific papers. Since May, 1915, connected with Commission for Relief in Belgium. Assisted with Mr. Hoover, in Europe, in investigation of food situation of Allies in May, 1917, and made several later trips of special investigation of European food conditions.

Vernon Lyman Kellogg (December 1, 1867 – August 8, 1937) was an American entomologist, evolutionary biologist, and science administrator. A major contribution was his study of bird lice and their hosts. He established the Department of Zoology at Stanford University in 1894, and served as the first permanent secretary of the National Research Council in Washington, D.C. (From Wikipedia)
